Legendary songwriter Sonny Throckmorton had a remarkable 150 songs recorded in a nine-month period in the late 1970s., and he was the Nashville Songwriters Association International’s Songwriter of the Year for 1978, 1979 and 1980. Throckmorton has had more than 1,000 of his songs recorded by various country singers, the most recent being the title cut of Willie Nelson’s newest album, to be released June 21, called “Ride Me Back Home” (co-written with his daughter — and Our Place Nashville’s very good friend — Debby Throckmorton).
