Life Skills Class - Reading Social Cues

For a lot of us, reading social cues is very challenging. But there are some things you can do to help make it easier to understand people -- even when they're not talking. On the other hand, a lot of us think we’re being polite if we speak indirectly. Some of us might say, “I’m tired. I want to go to sleep. Why don't you go home now?” Others of us might yawn and rub our eyes, expecting the other person to think, “Aha! He’s tired now. I should probably go home.” Which one is clearer? Yawning? Or saying you’re tired? Nancy Nolan teaches in the Human & Organizational Development Department at Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College, and she's going to help us learn to read social cues better. Class meets from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm via Zoom. Contact Carolyn Naifeh at carolyn.naifeh@ourplacenashville.org for more information.
