Life Skills Class: Social Etiquette

"Thank you so much for your lovely gift." "Could you please help me with this project?" "Excuse me, I'm so sorry I'm a few minutes late." Have you ever said these things? Should you say them more often? Is it important or just a waste of time to say, "Thank you" or "I'm sorry"? Two of our residents and their mothers -- Evan Slayton & Mimi Slayton, and Jake Webne & Melanie Lutenbacher -- are going to talk with us about social etiquette and role play so that we can strengthen our skills in making others feel good about a situation.

Here is an example of wonderful social etiquette: California Closets designed and installed closets in our fourth Friendship House. Jake sent the owner of the company, Kurt Schusterman, a thank you note. Kurt said, "I have to say, I received the nicest handwritten thank you card from Jake . . . it absolutely melted my heart!"
