Metro Parks DisABILITY: Art Classes sponsored by the Frist Center

Join MPDP and the Frist Center for a series of art classes in the theme of "Repair"! Selected artwork from these classes will be showcased in the Frist Center later this year. Please read through the descriptions to decide which class(es) you would like to attend. Classes are FREE, and participants can choose to attend just 1 class or all 3. Classes are March 20th, April 17th, and May 22nd!

MARCH 20th Class:

Lesson 1 - Relief painting with glue

With instructor assistance, the artists will use hot glue (a repairing material) to draw designs(based on the theme “repair”) onto their canvases. Then they will paint on top of the designs using acrylic paint. After the first layer of paint dries, the artists will mix a new shade of paint with water, and brush it on top of the design. Using paper towels, each artist will gently rub the water-paint mixture off the canvas, leaving behind a shadow/outline around the raised relief designs.
