At stake is the Metropolitan General Election — the mayor’s race — and Council At Large and Distsrcit Council Members’ seats. Our Friendship Houses are located in District 17, (FH1, FH2 and FH3) District 27 (FH4), 26 (FH5), District 8 (FH6), and District 23 (FH7).
Colby Sledge, our Council Member for District 17, is stepping down. He has been terrific to our Friendship House community. We could not have asked for a better advocate. He recommends Terry Vo.
Robert Nash is running unopposed for District 27.
Courtney Johnston is running unopposed in District 26; she is responsible for a large grant Our Place Nashville received this year from the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County; she also has been a big supporter of the construction of our Friendship House community opening in her District later this year.
Our District 8 Council Member, Nancy VanReece, is stepping down; the two candidates running to succeed. her are Martez Coleman and Deonte Harrell.
Thom Druffel is our Council Member for District 23; he is running against Lisa Williams. Thom was an amazing employer of individuals with developmental disabilities when he was General Manager of the Vanderbilt Holiday Inn. He served on our Our Place Nashville’s Board of Directors for a year. And his son is on our waiting list. He is a huge advocate for all of our friends, so we are big Druffel supporters.
The Metro Council is very involved in the success Our Place has enjoyed with the grant we received this year and the two Barnes grants we received in 2018 and 2020. The person who become mayor is hugely important to us. The candidate(s) who best champions affordable housing and individuals with disabilities is obviously going to be the person we most strongly support.
There also are three Tennessee House elections up for grabs in District 51 (special Republican and Democratic primary elections) and a Special General Election for Tennessee House District 52.
GO VOTE!!!!
