Next Chapter Book Club

Our Place Nashville hosts a unique community-based book club program for adolescents and adults with Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and other intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Our members (including some who cannot read) love books for the same reasons most people do.  They enjoy being transported to different worlds where they meet interesting characters and learn about exciting new things.  Taking that journey with a group of friends makes it even more delightful and fun.

We have room for two more friends to join the book club. If you’re interested, please contact Carolyn Naifeh at carolyn.naifeh@ourplacenashville.

The group started reading a New York Times Bestseller last week: Greenglass House by Kate Milford. “It’s wintertime at Greenglass House. The creaky smugglers’ inn is always quiet during this season, and 12-year-old Milo, the innkeepers’ adopted son, plans to spend his holidays relaxing. But on the first icy night of vacation, out of nowhere, the guest bell rings. Then rings again. And again. Soon Milo’s home is bursting with odd, secretive guests, each one bearing a strange story that is somehow connected to the rambling old home. As objects go missing and tempers flare, Milo and Meddy, the cook’s daughter, must decipher clues and untangle the web of deepening mysteries to discover the truth about Greenglass House — and themselves.

Debbie Clayton will be facilitating this afternoon’s meeting.
